Parents

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING…

Kay C.~

As a single mother with adopted sons with disabilities, I have found that as my sons age, the most challenging efforts are those that allow my sons to be accepted in “regular” activities,

Inclusion is a word and also a program in place across the state and across the nation that allows children with disabilities to participate in “regular” class and “regular” activities with the programs being modified as needed for the particular child or youth.

However, in practice, I find it seldom if ever used, at least in Texas. I personally find it to be a very old concept, used daily by Our Lord Jesus Christ as he walked the earth, with many examples left for us in the Holy Bible,

What a breath of fresh air you were, Graham, my son DJ wanted to sign up for a day on the lake you had arranged for the youth, I filled out the forms, noting that he was down syndrome.

You called and talked to me, making certain he was a swimmer and that he would abide by the rules, including wearing a life jacket and not ever standing when the boat was in motion, I went over the rules several times with him,so that he knew each one because you had said the kids would be tested before they could board.

DJ had the time of his life, talked about his boat trip for months, and became more comfortable with himself and others because of that trip. Your love and the impact you have had on DJ and other youth at a critical time in their lives is sorely needed and deeply appreciated.

The adrenaline type sports/activities that you have adopted as a ministry to reach kids for the Lord is very effective, Being the guy with skin on to show them that God loves them and wants them to have a blast within biblical parameters is a wonderful alternative to getting blasted on alcohol, drugs and promiscuity, as teenagers are portrayed today.

Letting them know that they can find and be centered in God’s will is a precious life lesson that you are teaching the youth in a fun/interactive way.

I don’t know if you have a “theme” verse for your ministry. If not, may I suggest a favorite one of mine?

” The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 English Standard Version

I am going to pray that your ministry continues and expands. I believe it fills a void..

The ministry of taking kids to a particular place and minister to them in the middle of “fun” activities like skiing has been a life changing experience for my family.

When we first got to Houston after being missionaries for 10 years, our son Alex had been going through a terrible process of rebellion that nearly broke our entire family.

We found a church and met Graham Gamble. We were touched by his ministry with the kids, but especially with kids who are struggling. When he first told us about taking my son Alex on his snowboarding trip to Brian Head, I thought what a wonderful opportunity, but knew we could not afford the expenses.

Graham mentioned that there was a scholarship for my son Alex, and he was able to go. When he came back from this trip, there were many changes that occurred.

One of those changes was the beginning of much better communication between him and I. Yet I knew that God had to do much more in his life and that there were aspects of Alex’s life that did not belong to the Lord.

God allowed Alex to go a second time, and this time some of the changes were more remarkable. The biggest change was a deeper understanding of His God. After this second trip with Graham’s ministry, I remembered many times where Alex would quote something he learned during his time at Brian Head.

The mentoring giving to these young men was not limited to the trips, it continued all the way through their daily lives as Graham maintains contact with them and keeps them accountable.

Sometimes teens have a tendency to listen to other adults more than their own parents. The greatest thing about Graham’s ministry is that he is an advocate for the parents and the kids in a very strong, Biblical basis.

Graham Gamble has a heart for ministering to teen-age boys and girls! He works full-time, yet spends one day a week during the summer to take junior high & high school boys and girls on a skiing/tubing boating adventure.

Not only is he the boat driver, but ministers to these kiddos while they are having fun. Our 8th grade daughter went on a boat trip this summer and invited 2 friends. As soon as they got in the car after a day of fun, their first words were: “Wow! Mr. G really encouraged me to read my Bible. It’s amazing all of the scripture he has memorized. I wish I knew that much scripture! I’m going home tonight and get started reading!”

Not only did Graham encourage them, but he sent them an outline to help them keep up with their reading. Our son was invited to one of his Extreme Adventure/Extreme Christianity week-long summer boat trips. Graham was able to dig into the Word with these boys and teach them amazing things.

After the event, Graham sent us an email, telling us the many spiritual qualities that he saw in our son, and gifts God had given him. Graham is even following up with these boys on a bi-monthly basis during the school year, to get them hungry for the Word.

Graham is an amazing man, who is using gifts God has given him, to minister, train, and lead these kids, giving them lifelong tools to help them in their spiritual walk. He is challenging these kids to stop and think of the purpose God has for their lives at such a critical age. Graham has blessed our family in more ways than he’ll ever know.

Thank you, Graham, for investing in our kids!!!

Wow! I really enjoyed watching the boys’ teaching videos. I was struck by how well they knew the material — not just how they remembered it, but how clearly they understood it and could come up with analogies and applications. I was also floored by their poise and confidence.

I told Scott that public speaking is the number one fear for most adults (maybe number two after death!) and it seemed a strange concept to him. It’s so great that these boys are learning this as teenagers. Beyond the spiritual lessons — which are huge — they are gaining skills that will serve them throughout their lives!

Hi Graham,

I’m glad this letter came a couple of weeks later than your request for the simple reason that the extra time gave me a chance to visit with you last week and have you speak into my life personally like I know you’ve been speaking into the life of my kids (and specifically my son Harrison) for a few years now.

I can’t put into words how important I believe your ministry to be. I’ve spent Harrison’s lifetime (and that of his sisters Emily and Avery too) trying to speak the truth of Christ into their lives. Each of them have a strong faith and have accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord at an early age but as you know, our lives have been turned upside down over the past few years.

I CHERISH that you have stepped alongside me in my efforts to raise them in such a way to build their faith and help them keep looking to the True Jesus who is the source of all provision, peace, and life they can ever experience.

As I mentioned, I heard your message of faith and hope for me and my family firsthand last week as you continued to step alongside my kids and contact me to ensure I can see the magnitude of the moment as Wendy and I are going through divorce.

I wholeheartedly agree that this is a pivotal moment in our lives as parents and certainly in the lives of each of our kids.

You’ll never know the depth of gratitude I have in my heart for the people like you God is raising up to stand in the gaps and voids that have crashed into our lives. I am truly thankful for you and will back this ministry of God’s truth at all times.

I had the kids this last weekend and we went on our summer vacation to the hill country (Fiesta Texas and Schlitterbahn) and I used several opportunities to relay much of the information you shared with me about how to skip fear/anxiety/etc and step directly to Faith in God through our situation (specifically about looking down and seeing just the next step that He shows us).

I shared some of the scriptures about Exodus and the Red Sea you shared with me and we even did one of the days of your scripture challenge together on the way home by listening to the Bible in the car.

By the way, it was Harrison’s idea to listen to the scriptures on the way home and both Emily and Avery joined right along in agreement. What a blessing to have them standing to this life challenge and what a blessing you have been to me and to my kids.

I sincerely thank you!

Graham does a good job of putting the kids in an environment where they can really have fun and then be open to spiritual teaching. We took our family on two of the snow ski trips in Utah.

Everyone had a blast – the lodging was great, the skiing and other activities were great, but it didn’t stop at that. Every evening, Graham had a teaching time with the kids.

He taught them things like how to keep trusting the Lord through tough times, how to share their faith with others, how to handle difficult questions about their faith, etc.

The kids shared in the teaching, too, so that was good experience for them. Graham continues to encourage the kids to “be transformed by the renewing of their minds” by challenging them to listen to and meditate on God’s word.

In a day and age when kids are either consumed in the competitive sporting world, i.e., baseball, football and soccer, etc., or holed up in their rooms playing video games with people they don’t have to relate to on a personal level, it’s so refreshing to have someone who is willing to sacrifice their time to reach our youth with the message and truth of Christ and challenge them to grow in their faith.

Adventure Sports Ministry has provided a great way for my son to connect with an adult who can influence him in his growth in Christ in a setting that gets him out of his video game black box into the outdoors and out of his comfort zone.

Graham is a cool guy that the unchurched can also relate to, who also shares the love of Christ with them in a cool, fun atmosphere.

ASM also provides positive role models to challenge Christian kids to grow in their faith. I have personally attended an ASM boat trip, and really appreciated how it was such a loving, caring and fun day on the lake.

Kids have a blast with the activities, but parents can be assured it’s a caring nurturing growth outing. And ASM always stirs in a healthy dose of leadership and spiritual training.

Graham, just wanted to say thanks for a great day…allowing me to create some memories for my kids I normally would not have the chance to without having a boat. Great lessons and you handled the boat mishap great, no kids panicked or felt scared.

I was exhausted when I showed up and was not the best for company conversation but the day still made my situation better. Being beat up on the lake (thoroughly enjoyed it) allowed me to come home and crash around 9 pm and get a great night’s sleep. Blessings to you…keep up the good work.

Hi Graham. I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU again for allowing Trey to go on this trip… and THANK YOU to you or whoever gave money for him to attend also. He had a great great time!! He came back full of stories about everything!

I have no idea who gave, but my son was blessed by a scholarship to attend the Spring Break, Utah snowboard trip. He had a great time on this trip. The kids had choices of many activities… skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, games, etc. They had fun filled days. He came back full of stories about everything!

But the part that meant the most to me was the time of devotions each night. Not just sitting and listening, but the kids participated and took turns teaching and interacting each night. The biggest part my son brought back from that was “Marinating” in scripture. I heard that word quite a bit after his return.

3 months before this trip 3 boys (including Trey) started a Bible Study at their school. But after returning from this trip, he seemed to have more persistence in reading it daily. Now, nine months later he is more into the Bible than ever. He even gives me scriptures to read.

I am very thankful for a positive role model like Graham Gamble that would take a week out of his time PLUS many other hours preparing for this trip just to pour into the lives of a group of teenagers.

The year leading up to this trip was an extremely traumatic year for our family (especially my son) and there’s no way this trip would have been possible without a scholarship being given to him.

In my opinion when someone gives a scholarship for one of these kids, even if they cannot attend the trip they are still a part of the work that is being done to help these kids grow into positive adults that hopefully can become role models themselves in the next generation.

Thanks for the sacrifice of all the people who made this possible, both monetarily and in time! Thanks for taking time to speak into these boys lives so hugely!!

Thank you and may God richly bless you.

For a couple of years, our kids have been part of the boat trips Graham has put together to minister to kids. Not only have they had a great time, the trips provided them with an opportunity to talk about God and their spiritual lives with their peers in a relaxed and fun environment.

Graham is gifted in relating to teenagers on a level they are comfortable with while still managing to challenge them spiritually and hold them accountable. He is able to speak truth into their lives because he takes the time to develop a solid relationship with them first.

He is always looking for unique, high-energy ways to engage with kids and capture their attention while seeking to deepen their walks with Christ.

We are so thankful for the impact Graham and his ministry has had on our kids.

I am so happy for the “official” incorporation of your Adventure Sports Ministry. You have been such a blessing to my son Ryan. He has grown in his walk with the Lord as a result of your love and encouragement these past 3 years especially.

With love and thanks and prayers,

Lana

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, I have worked with a large number of troubled teens. Children are looking for direction in so many places. Many that I have worked with through the years may have been able to live a different life story if someone like Graham Gamble was able to influence their lives.

Graham has been there for three of my sons as a role model and leader. Although my husband is a really great guy – my boys have tuned him out at times. That is when Graham stepped in and taught my guys that following Christ is not an alternative for wimps – it is an exciting life of real adventure.

He has chosen to impact kids with activities that are not always available for many families such as wake boarding which my kids had never done before. Graham has shown them love when they were unlovable – just like God does for us.

Graham is called to minister during one of the most difficult times in teen’s lives. I am thankful for the self sacrificing love Graham has show to so many young people over the years. It is my prayer that God would continue to bless Graham with an even wider reach.

Respectfully yours,

Both girls said they just love you in a discussion last night. They said you are #3 on their favorite adult list, right after Mark and myself. Goodness gracious, the Lord’s favor is upon you big time. I think they had to say us because we’re their parents. Ha ha ha. Thanks again for your tremendous impact on my girls lives.
